Shane graduated from Caribou high school and earned his Eagle Scout award in 1992. He went on to the University of Maine and graduated with a degree in Associates of Science in Criminal Justice in 1994. While working as an Officer for Farmington Police he attended the University of Maine at Farmington graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2005. Shane started his law enforcement career at the age of 18 working as a transport officer for the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department. During college he worked as a security guard and as a transport officer with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department. Shane was hired as a full-time patrolman in November of 1996 for the Farmington Police Department. He attended and graduated the 84th Municipal/County Basic Police School, at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, in June of 1997. Shane was awarded Employee of the Year in 1999. He was promoted to Sergeant in June 2004 and Deputy Chief of Police in October of 2010. He earned a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Husson University in 2010.
