EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION

JuniorTurner1JuniorTurner3

We are honored to recognize long-time firefighter Junior Turner upon his retirement. Junior served both on the Farmington Falls fire department and the Farmington Fire department for a total of 53 years! Several members of Junior’s family were also present for the celebration. He is pictured with his wife Marie, whose father is responsible for Junior’s entry into firefighting according to both she and Junior, and with the Fire Chief, Town Manager and members of the Select Board. We offer a deep heartfelt thank you for his years of service, and wish him all the best in retirement!

The Safety Training Facility has been completed and is currently being used by local departments for a variety of training sessions which provides a tremendous opportunity to improve firefighting skills.  This facility will also be used by the Mt. Blue Fire Training Class as well as other emergency departments.  There are only seven statewide training sites for firefighting and even less for law enforcement.  This project is supported by State, local agencies and the RSU #9 school district funding.

The collaborative effort contributed to the local Operation Santa Claus program by purchasing $2,000 worth of toys for families who otherwise can’t afford a full Christmas tree. Walmart donated the funds for the purchases that the firefighters and police officers shopped for, with assistance from store manager Greg Patterson and other store associates.  Click here to red the full article in the Daily Bulldog.

Farmington Firefighters Steve Bunker and Patty Cormier are bringing in the New Year in a special way, as they head for the annual Rose Parade in California. Their all-expenses paid trip to ride on a special float in the parade was an unexpected surprise given through the generosity of the Maine Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s organization.  The parade is set to kick off at 11 a.m. EST for those who want to watch the big event, and the float is said to be the 54th unit in line.  Click here to read the Daily Bulldog atricle.
