Farmington Police Awards

Combat Cross- Awarded to an employee for an individual act of heroism with imminent personal hazard of life   in combat with an armed adversary.

Gallantry Star- Awarded to an employee for an act of distinguished bravery in the arrest of a person who represented a major threat to the welfare of the community and/or employee.

Wounded in Combat- Awarded to an employee for a wound received in the line of duty, inflicted intentionally by an armed adversary and resulting in severe puncture wounds, lacerations, fractures or concussion being suffered by the employee.

Lifesaving- Awarded to an employee for an act in the line of duty which, through disregard of personal safety or prompt and alert action, results in the saving of a human life.

Employee of the Year- Awarded to a full-time employee who stands well above other employees in the performance of their job and who contributes immensely to the mission of the Farmington Police Department.  The first year for this award began on January 1, 1996.

Commendation- Awarded to an employee who performs an act or deed which is highly credible in the line of duty, showing initiative and accomplishment.  The first year for this award began on January 1, 1994.

Officers receiving this award include: Lieutenant Jack Peck, Jr.; Sergeant Peter Barton; Officer Randall Keaten; Officer Shane Campbell; Sergeant Michael Adcock.

Good Conduct- Awarded to a full-time employee for a continuous two (2) year tour of duty without an official reprimand or instance of report in any manner.  The first two (2) year tour of duty began on January 1, 1995.

Officers receiving this award include: Chief Richard Caton; Sergeant Vernon Stevens; Officer Joyce Richard; Sergeant Shane Cote; Lieutenant Jack Peck, Jr.; Sergeant Peter Barton; Officer Mike Wahl; Officer Darin Gilbert; Officer Shane Campbell; Officer Nathan Reid; Detective Marc Bowering; Officer Bridgette Gilbert; Officer Brian Ross; Sergeant Edward Hastings, IV.

Educational Achievement- Awarded to a full-time employee for attaining 65 credits towards a degree or possessing an Associates Degree at an acknowledged institution.  A gold acorn will be added for a Bachelors Degree and an oak leaf for a Masters Degree. This award shall be given after an employee has successfully completed the required probationary period, regardless if the degree was earned prior to employment.

Civilian Service- Awarded to a civilian for personal assistance by a civilian in apprehending a criminal or in extending oneself beyond one's own safety to provide prompt action to aid people in danger.

Conley Gould Jr. and Kathleen Haines were also recognized for their years of service as Reserve Patrolmen in 2001.
